“Another great stay”

We just returned from a 10 day stay at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios. This was our 4th trip there and was one of the best we have been on. We were there Aug. 30 - Sept. 9
We booked the Honeymoon Penthouse Oceanfront Concierge room and were upgraded to the Honeymoon Oceanfront Luxury Suite. The room was great, with a big living room and balcony, with a seperate bedroom/bathroom, which was as big as the regular rooms in the riviera building. I must say that although we enjoyed the room a lot, we didn't think it would be worth the extra money to pay for it as it was twice as much as the room we booked.
We would probably not pay for concierge service at this property again as the perks are limited. None of the restaurants take reservations nor do the concierge level guests have room service. The only advantage is the in room bar. However, we knew this going in so it wasn't a dissapointment. At a property with concierge room service it would be worth it for us.

As usual, they had a lot of activities everyday and we participated in a lot of them. Pool volleyball, battle of the sexes, name that tune, beach volleyball and other random games were our favorites. Prizes included Rum, coffee and neclaces...We came back with 4 bottles of rum and 1 lb. of coffee.
Food at the resort is better than average and seemed to have improved since our last trip. This is the first trip that we didn't have to wait for tables at any time as it was the extreme low season. There were empty tables in every restaurant so food came out quickly which was nice.
The best meal we had was the Sandals Select Dinner on Wednesday night. They had appetizers by the pool and then we had a 4 course meal overlooing the ocean. Food was very good and better than any of the restaurants offerings.
Staff was incredibly friendly, always willing go the extra mile. We rented a cabana on our last day there on the recomendation of one of the tripadvisor posters. We were able to order breakfast and lunch from personalized menus and eat in the cabana. They gave us misters and a cooler full of beer and water. We enjoyed the experience but probably wouldn't do it again as both food and drinks are only a short distance away.
