“The most AMAZING Honeymoon EVER!!!”

We went to Couples Negril on our Honeymoon from August 17-28 2006. I read and read reviews on Trip Advisor as well as the Couples Message Boards. My review will be very detailed, so I am hoping this will help people choose the best Couples Resort for them, which is CN!!!

As a honeymoon couple, you get a lot of perks. You will receive a bottle of champagne delivered to your room. You will also receive 2 ½ hour massages free, for you and your partner.

We flew Continental airlines. Now with the security measures in all major airports, you can not carry on any liquids, lotions or creams. Make sure you pack ALL your health and beauty aids and check them. We packed a separate bag of sun tan lotion, perfumes, colognes, etc and then the rum we brought back too. They will check your bags before you get on the plane, and if they find something in your carry on bag, they will take it out and throw it away.

When we got to Jamaica we went through immigration. On the plane, the flight attendants will give you all the necessary paper work. If you have just been married (as We were) you both need to fill the paperwork out. Immigration was long, but we wound up talking to people in line so it went by really fast. Then we went to get our luggage. Montego Bay Airport is HOT and they have fans. When we went to get our luggage, the luggage conveyor belts are low to the ground, if your luggage passes you and you don’t realize the Porter will grab it and put it in a big pile will all the other luggage. It took a bit to find all of our pieces. One thing to say, do not have locks on your bags. The only locks they will permit are the TSA special locks. We bought these at Square Luggage, but you can get them on line too. They were about $8.00 USD. They are a combo locks that show a green sign, if your luggage is tampered with or the airport tries to open your luggage it will become red. (We had no problems)

We then had to get in line to go through customs. It was so hot at this point, I just wanted a drink. The line for customs was long, but we waited about 10 minutes. The woman asked us a few questions and we were on our way. You then walk into a hallway where all the resorts have a lounge and straight ahead was Couples Resorts. We were so excited. We checked with the gentleman and he told us the shuttle would leave in about 20 minutes or so. They offered us a bottle of red stripe or soda, we passed. Before we knew it was time to go.

The “RED HATS” are the porters that bring your luggage over to the bus. I knew from reading reviews to tip them. A couple that was getting on the bus; however I guess did not know. The Red Hat asked them point blank for a tip. On the bus, there was also a sign that tips are appreciated.

The ride to CN was interesting to say the least. It would have been nice if the driver told us about Jamaica, but he didn’t. They played Reggae music the whole way, and it was repeating itself. In other reviews, they said the bus would stop for bathroom or drink breaks. Our bus, however, did not. We passed a lot so villages and country sides. The drive was about an hour and 15 minutes. The driving is crazy!!! The roads are a bit curvy, but when I saw the ocean on the right side I knew we were almost at the resort.

CN is off a main road. At the entrance of the resort is a small sign reading Couples, the 2 intertwined trees and a security booth. As we drove up we saw the open aired lobby. Oh it is better in person than in pictures. The porters at CN, took our luggage off the bus. We tipped them and the driver of the shuttle also.

We were greeted with the infamous cold towels and a glass of champagne. Then we were seated in the lobby and waited for our paper work. I walked across the lobby and there was the most amazing picture. The CN Pool, swim up bar, sandy beach, palm trees and blue ocean. The sky was amazing, blue and no clouds. I knew I was supposed to be here with my husband. We filled out our paperwork and got 2 sets of keys on wired bracelets and our safe key and lock. You will need to present a Credit Card for Incidentals too. We also received a map of the resort and the Activity and Information Sheet ( I will go into that in a bit)

We were then escorted to our room, and our luggage was waiting up there for us. We were in building 3 # 3304. Our Room- Our room faced the garden. It was a standard deluxe room. The bathroom is spacious with a shower/tub combo. In the bathroom is a makeup mirror, outlet for electrical razor and a hair dryer. There is a ledge that we kept all of our beauty products on. CN also provides you with tissues, and 4 little bottles of shampoo, bath gel, aloe and lotion and a big bar of soap and of course a lot of towels.. There is a closet that has extra pillows, luggage rack, bug spray for your room, umbrella, iron and ironing board, 2 bathrobes ( the bathrobes are one size fits are and are $75 USD, if you wish to take them home) many hangers and the safe. The safe is small, but we were able to put a lot in there, including my small bag, a 35MM camera, my digital camera, all of our money and some other things of value. (A LAP TOP WILL NOT FIT IN THE SAFE). There is also a dresser with 4 straw dresser drawers. A beautiful towel arrangement sat on the bed as well. There is a comfy chair, king size bed, and TV (w/ American stations  ) There is also a vase with a fresh flower in it as well. There are 2 tables on each side of the bed. One table has a phone and some information about how to use it, a couples pad and pen and an invite to the Manager’s Reception. (More info to follow on that in a few) The other table has a clock/radio/CD player. Make sure you bring some CD’s with you. And there is also a coffee maker with coffee, tea and all the condiments.

Our balcony had 2 chairs a small table, matches and an ashtray.

The Pool- At CN the Pool is very big. On each side there is a hot tub which is at 103 degrees. There is a wall that separates the pool from the area where the swim up bar is. There is a water fall there too. Some people had no problem getting on the wall and going that way to the swim up bar, I however had to get out and walk around. The swim up bar opens at 10AM. They have all top liquor brands and there are 2 machines that contain frozen Pina Coloda and Strawberry Daiquiri in them. Our drinks of choice included Dirty Bananas, Fresh Banana Daiquiris, Strawberry Daiquiri’s, and Miami Vice. We both did a “Bob Marley Shot”, which we earned Couples dollars for. We also enjoyed the drink of the day provided by Franklyn or Keisha. They were our favorite bartenders. At the pool are a lot of chairs and tables, and there are plenty of them around. The infamous floaties are there too. Some of them are beat up, but they all do the same thing, make the chairs comfy when you are sitting in the sun, and float you in the pool or the ocean. While it rained everyday for an hour or so, Paul and I choose to sit in the hot tub. It was awesome. Nice rain hitting us in 103 degree water.

SOMETHING TO DO---- Resort Orientation. This is given everyday, either at 10am or 5pm. Cameron and Tamika were our tour guides. They walk you around the resort and tell you where everything is, what time things open, where to make reservations for Otaheite, signing up for water sports, where the spa is, and where the sundry shop is.

You can choose to just swim around and into the caves, or you can jump off the cliffs. It is $2.00 USD. We swam around, but people did jump. You can also just hang out on the boat too. If you are doing that bring a GOOD CAMERA. The sunset was awesome on the way back and our camera was not that cool.

Water Sports- All are included, expect for Scuba Diving. If you are certified, it is included, but if you are not, you have to pay to become certified. We heard that snorkeling was fun, water skiing, sailing, hobie crafts and canoeing. But we choose to only do the paddle boats which we had lots of problems with. All day on the ocean, guys drive by on the jet skis and parasailing boats. This is extra (not run by CN)

Margaritaville- We went on Wednesday night. This is Jimmy Buffet’s infamous bar. Food and drinks are expensive. They have a great gift shop and great drinks as well. Make sure you bring some money with you.

Spa & Fitness- There are numerous classes offered at CN. We did Aqua Aerobics one day. It was fun. In the gym there is a list of everything that is being offered in a particular day.

Other Stuff we did-
• We upgraded to an hour massage for each of us. There is a hut on the beach with sheer curtains. We had the massage together on the beach. We heard an awesome rain storm and the ocean waves crashing to the shore.
• We had a romantic dinner in the garden in a gazebo. It was an extra $150, but it was worth it
• I had my hair braided. It will last 2 weeks, it looks great. It was $60 extra
• One activity that the Entertainment sponsored was tye dying shirts. We made 2 it was fun.
