Apple Vacations Online Quotes & Availability Aventura Palace All-Inclusive All-in-all an enjoyable trip By rdrunneriub, 07/26/08 My wife and I chose this resort for our honeymoon since it was an adults-only all-inclusive resort. The resort is a little over an hour drive south from the Cancun airport. There are two different room types at the resort - either two full beds in the rooms or a king bed. A whirlpool tub, HDTV, and stocked liquor cabinet are standard in every room. My wife and I signed up for the honeymoon package, which included an ocean-view room and king bed, but when we showed up, we received neither of those things. We went to the front desk and were informed that all of the honeymoon rooms were booked for that night, and there was nothing they could do for us our first night. So apparently they have a problem with over-booking rooms even after you paid for it and booked your vacation months in advance. After our first night, they got us moved to the correct room for the rest of our stay. Other than that mishap, I can't complain about the service we received. All the employees are incredibly nice and helpful, but most don't know a lot of English, so brush up on your Spanish before you go. The food is okay, but nothing to write home about. My wife and I agreed that the food looked better than it tasted. The ice cream is an exception - it was excellent. There are 6 different restaurants to choose from every night (included is a Mexican, Italian, and Japanese), and room service is available pretty much at any hour. The resort itself is very beautiful and extremely well-kept. The place is huge and it takes a little while to figure out where everything is. The outside pool area is huge and quite beautiful with views of the open ocean. There is no actual beach, so if you want one, find another resort. However, there is an ocean-fed lagoon that you can swim, snorkel, and kayak in. The lagoon had all kinds of fish swimming in it, so it was fun to snorkel in. There is no swimming allowed in the open ocean though. There are also pool bars and you can swim up and get as many drinks as you want all day. There is also an indoor pool with two hottubs located right next to the fitness center. The fitness center is nice. They have elipticals, treadmills, and various weight machines. There is also an aerobics room with free weights in it. They offer various fitness classes during the day too (spinning, aerobics, etc.) My wife and I each got 50 minute massages which were nice, but kind of expensive (Around $119 each). If you go, make sure you bring like $50 ones so you can tip the appropriate people (bell boy, drivers, room service, etc.) There is also a maze you can walk in and a jungle area with a rock-climbing wall. All-in-all we found it to be an enjoyable trip and we would probably go back at some point. I hope this review was helpful. Thanks for reading! |
